New Orders And Vacation

Hello! Just stopping to update a few things and to wish everyone a good weekend! I just got off work. . . 5 hours ago. . . it was a busy day up at the pool. But I love it, one little boy made my day he said I was "cool". Anyways, I am just filling out orders and waiting to ship them after I receive payment. I have an order for five rosaries. Three black thread with black beads, and two black thread with pearl beads. The pattern is relatively simple, you just have to get it started and want to finish it. And I have to complete these by next week because that is when they want it by. After that I have to start on an Amigurumi Sock Monkey with forest green, mint green and black for a friend who is willing to pay the price. Muwhahahaha. $10 since there is no shipping. That's the price. After that I will be clear of orders and will be able to stock other items.

The 29th of June through the 6th of July I will be out of town on Holiday. Down to the Gulf Coast I go! To Galveston Island! Maybe I will be inspired for Beach Theme Crochet! That would be cool!

Well, that's it for now! Talk to you soon!
Cheers!

First Free Pattern: Over The Shoulder Purse

I just finished this project just like 10 minutes ago. And it's a pattern I made myself, I just went along with it and just added what I felt would be great! And since it's easy, I am giving out this free pattern.

What You Will Need:
Red Heart Super Saver Yarn; I used the lilac color, you can use any yarn you like this is just what I used
Hook; I used a J-Hook 6.00 MM or Size 4 if using the UK Chart
[If you are having trouble finding a hook size I use this chart; Crochet Hook Comparison Chart ]
Time! I was able to make this in less than a week because I have a lot of down time in between shifts and when I work next.

Instructions:

Front of Purse
ch 34
Row 1; 1 hdc from 2nd ch of hook, 1 hdc across; ch 2, turn (32)
Row 2: 1 hdc across; ch 2, turn (32)
Row 3 - 14: Repeat Row 2
Row 15: 1 hdc next two stitches, ch 2, skip 2 stitches, 1 hdc in next 2 stitches and repeat until the end; ch 2 turn
Row 16: 1 hdc in each stitch across; when you get to the 'ch 2' space just do 2 hdc in that space; ch 2. turn
Row 17: 1 hdc in each stitch across; ch 2, turn
Row 18: Repeat Row 15, 1 hdc next 2 stitches, ch 2, skip next 2 stitches, 1 hdc in next 2 stitches repeat until end; ch 2, turn
Row 19: Repeat row 16, ch 2, turn
Row 20 & 21: 1 hdc in each stitch across; ch 2, turn
Row 22: Repeat Row 15; ch 2, turn
Row 23: Repeat Row 16; ch 2, turn
Row 24: 1 hdc in each stitch across; ch 2, turn
Row 25: Repeat row 24 but do not ch 2, turn, instead fasten off

Back
ch 34
Row: 1 hdc from 2nd ch of hook, 1 hdc across; ch 2 turn (32)
Row 2 - 40: 1 hdc in each stitch across; ch 2 turn
When you get to row 40, do not ch 2 and turn, instead fasten off

Now I made individual strips to make the space for the purse instead of just sewing the front and back together.

Each strip is the same except the length.
Bottom Strip; when you finish this you will sew this to the bottom of the front and back; I will tell you what I did to sew them together.
Ch 6
Row 1; from 2nd ch from hook 1 hdc, 1 hdc in each stitch across; ch 2, turn (4)
Row 2 - 24 Repeat row 1
Now, when I went to sew them together, all I did was single crochet them together.

Side Strips; Make 2
Ch 6
Row 1; from 2nd ch from hook 1 hdc, 1 hdc in each stitch across; ch 2, turn (4)
Row 2 - 25 Repeat row 1
I single crocheted them together like I did the bottom.

This is the body of your purse.
Strap:
Ch 6
Row 1; from 2nd ch from hook 1 hdc, 1 hdc in each stitch across; ch 2, turn (4)
Row 2 - 40[or desired length] Repeat row 1
Once again I single crocheted them together.

You should have your purse!
I am sorry if this is slightly confusing, I was not writing down the pattern as I went along. So if you use this pattern and it isn't quite right you can E-mail me and send your corrections!

I hope you enjoy this free pattern and I hope that you have fun crocheting!

Cheers!
This is Jean; he is my model for most things!
This pattern is copyrighted to Celestial Yarn and it's owner. You can use the pattern as you wish, if you sell the product PLEASE give me credit! If you plan on selling the purse; e-mail me with a link to your shop where I can find it and admire it! Huzzah!

Finding Friends Online

So today I tried something new. I found a group on MeetUp that is a knitting/crochet pack of females that mets up at the local Barnes and Noble by my house.

I have always had a hard time trusting people I met online, and I was nervous. My Aunt Kathleen, who sews for Celestial Yarn, tagged along with me and made the experience even better. It wasn't at all what I expected, they were very friendly and super nice. I even made a couple of friends!

Either way, I think it was a great experience to share and I am looking forward to going back!

I think it's a great thing to go outside your bubble of trust and open up to new people. Especially if you and the others share an interest. Then it's even more fun!

Busy Day....Busy Week

So all day today I have been updating the Etsy page, the Facebook page, I created this blog, a ravelry, and a Deviant Art page. Hopefully now I can take a break from all this editing and get back to what I love doing!

I do have good news though, I do have a sale, well a request. Someone is paying me to crochet them a sock monkey. Although I am terrified of the beasts I am not going to turn down a chance for business. Gotta suck it up like a big girl and rise to the challenge! The bills need me to!

Currently I am looking for more patterns I can use. And yes when I do use a pattern and sell the item, I make sure it is ok with the creator of the pattern and I do give credit. Trust me I do not need trouble. Other than that nothing else is going on that's worth mentioning. But I will say I am almost done with a purse, it's something I have been working on since Saturday. It's taken this quick to make it because at my work I do a lot of sitting down because I work concessions and not everyone wants a push-pop while they swim, so I have had down time. So instead of reading a book or starring mindlessly out into the chlorine water I have been crocheting like one of those elves that make shoes. Shooessss.

Anyways, I am falling asleep so I guess it's off to bed for this crocheter! Cheers!

Welcome To Celestial Yarn's Blog!

Hiya!! My name is Brooke and I am the owner of Celestial Yarn. Celestial Yarn is (for now) an online business for many crafts. Such crafts include Crochet, Wreath Making, Quilting, and painting items to make them look Steampunk. Ok, that's ALL we do. But from time to time there will pop up a painting or two. We try to broaden our horizon every now and then.

Basically I have started this blog to track my progress and have more social openings for Celestial Yarn. Plus I have seen so many successful craft shops have blogs for promotional reason and etc., I thought to myself; "I'm going to follow their example!"

Let me tell you a bit about Celestial Yarn and then I can dive into telling you about me!

Celestial Yarn was first thought up for a math project, but after I graduated I sort of just threw it away and never really thought about it after that. Well as the summer passed, and my finished Crochet projects cluttering my room I thought it would be a good time to start selling them and making room as well as money. Well, my boyfriend's parents go out to these trade days every first weekend of the month. It's called First Monday and it's held out in Weatherford TX. They suggested that I could sell my items out there, well I got to thinking and made some make shift business cards. At first business was slow, but soon I was selling right and left. I then started to expand my business by making official business cards, making an Etsy, an eBay, and then in March 2013, I created the Celestial Yarn Facebook page. Although it's a small online store, I am working on making it big and making it one of the popular craft shops.

I am not alone in this process, I have three other members to my shop. My Aunt Kathleen who sews quilts and blankets, my boyfriend Gaerrick who loves taking nerf guns and making them Steampunk. And then my cousin Carmella, who edits posts and descriptions, making sure everything is correct and proper! With our powers combined we are...Celestial Yarn! WOOOO!

Now about me, like I said before, my name is Brooke. I graduated high school back in 2012, and I am currently not in college. Crocheting and Wreath Making isn't all what I do. I also draw, paint, compose stories, have starring contests with my cat, lay in my hammock all day and watch the leaves in the sky. I enjoy meditating and reading books, a huge fantasy fan, as well as Science Fiction and video games. I am what you would call a creative nerd. Ha! Music is a big part of my creative process, my favorite genres are techno, alternative, and metal. Techno out ruling the other two. I am a natural red head but I am always dying my hair, my favorite past hair style was when I had my hair down to my shoulders and it was bright pink, boy do I miss my hair being pink! Currently it is black and short. I am a huge animal lover, my favorite being cats and Flamingos! I am a native Texan living in Fort Worth and Galveston. I adore all things that go hand and hand with the beach, my favorite seasons are fall and summer. I was born in October, and I am a Libra. I enjoy surrounding myself with anything that deals with magic, spending hours at a time in local metaphysical shops. That's pretty much all I have for now!

I hope you enjoy my blog and I hope to do blog more in the future! YAY!
